This is a great course for experienced shooters that are looking to increase their knowledge of how to safely operate a formal shooting range, or even just act as the safety lead for a group of family/friend shooters heading out for some plinking. My local range required the completion of a formal course before I can become a volunteer RSO , and they accepted the USCCA E-Learning course to satisfy that requirement. The content of the course was presented in an easily understood format, and the online nature enabled you to repeat sections that you wanted additional exposure to. I’d highly recommend taking this course to increase your knowledge and skills. Chris R. (Northern California)

To sum it up in one word…lacking. I was seriously disappointed in this course. This might have been the first time I have been unhappy with the quality of anything associated with USCCA. It was basically content that could have fit into an article or blog post and then some scenario videos. The video scenarios could have been great if they had the instructors talk you through the scenarios and inject some real world experience. But no, they just show different versions of the same video then ask you some quiz questions.
For the price of this training, it was a waste of my money. I would be really worried about any range that used this as their certification process for effectively running a range or event.

Good information especially for people less experienced in range operations.I do feel a little more confidant in RSO’n the AR shoot next month at my gun club.
I wish this was an in person class in order to show to an instructor that you can handle the big responsibility of the RSO position. watching some videos and passing a multiple choice quiz shouldn’t be the max in order to gain a certification. the cert doesn’t mean as much that way. love the USCCA and i hope that RSO can be a full fledged class/cert in the future.

I am an infantry sergeant with the US Army. Usually courses like this bore the crap out of me and I hate them very much!
However this course was very attention grabbing. I actually admit that I learned a few things here. USCCA is definitely unlike military training, I just probably the biggest compliment I could pay anybody. Thank you USCCA for this course.
I will be back soon to become a CPL instructor. Hope I get some kind of Discount for leaving such a heartfelt review, God Bless #Trump2020

RSO was the final certification that I’ve kept from the NRA. I was ecstatic to see that the USCCA started offering it. I really liked the fact the training had scenarios for both indoor and outdoor ranges.
Being a USCCA Instructor I love the fact that now I can keep my certifications all in one spot.
Good job USCCA!!

It was a good class and teaches you how to handle a range safely. Though I would like to have the hands on but, due to the pandemic it put everything on hold . I can successfully say that it brought me one step closer to preparing for my Instructors class and giving me the knowledge I need to teach friends and family on firearms safety, etc.

I see people condemning the program but don’t suggest an alternative. Hmmm…? (I will rank in the center to minimize the rating, the posting script requires a rating to post.)

A good introductory course and well worth the money. However, I consider it more as an introduction and what I’d like to see is a more comprehensive follow-on course to go into more detail. Topic might include how to go about establishing range safety policies and punishments for infractions that are legal.

I consider USCCA training on any subject to be the best in the business, and the RSO course certainly follows in that tradition. Excellent training even if you don’t plan on working at or running a range.

This course was great. Very Informative. Easy to navigate.

I received much better training than the one offered at my gun club. Information, videos and multiple choice questions provided enough information for taking on the role of an RSO at my club.

I thought that the class prepared me to create a safe and focused range experience for my team. I agree with others who say that the course was informative and easy to use.

I enjoy learning new things like this course. It will help me in my effort to create more responsible weapon owners in my community. In my opinion every instructor should want to learn what this course has to offer.

The course material covered everything you need to know to start out as a Range Safety Officer. Great course and I will be recommending this to my counterparts.

I have taken several RSO courses. This one is pretty simple, but it focuses on the most important points. Very little about managing a range and considerable detail on managing a firing line safely. Some very useful videos on things to watch for before things go bad. In my opinion, this is a great minimum training course.

Great basic course, and overview of situational range awareness.

First: I’m very glad I took this course. It’s difficult to rate because I’ve been spoiled by such stellar courses from USCCA and although this didn’t quite measure up to those others, it was still well worth my time. The first several modules were pretty dry. A necessary information dump for the following scenario analyses, but dry. One individual presenting the info in “lecture fashion”, instead of a more interactive presentation with multiple presenters who discuss the points made, to better illustrate why the point being made is critical, would have made more impact and been more attention grabbing &, frankly, more memorable. Also, like another reviewer, I would have liked discussion/analysis of each scenario by multiple presenters.
Anyway, definitely worth taking but not on par with your other training. Maybe rethink this?

The on line course was very clear to understand. I liked how you could go back and review things and how there were test questions in sections. Very good course leaving me feeling confident and well trained.

The course was easy to follow and just long enough as not to get lost in the material.

Highlighted topics that can get overlooked while concentrating on running class. Reminds us of the importance of paying attention to all aspects of safety on the range with an excited and new shooter.

Loved the course. It was very informative and would recommend it for anyone

Well I really liked reading it. This subject procured by you is very effective for correct planning.
Brad (verified owner) –
Enjoyed the material and even more so the videos showing the little things that you tend to not focus on while being at the range. I would send anyone looking to be an RSO to this course!!!
Calvin –
Thank you for your support, Brad. We are happy that you got some value out of this course.
